What’s included in our office plant care service?
Both living plants and artificial plants need regular maintenance to stay in the best condition possible, but their needs differ significantly. Our maintenance staff are rigorously trained in both living and artificial plant maintenance, which will involve the following:
What happens on a maintenance visit?
If you opt for our commercial plant maintenance service as part of a design and installation package or as a standalone service, our maintenance team will schedule regular visits tailored to your individual needs and preferences (typically every three to four weeks), ensuring that these visits consider both the needs of your office plants and any potential disruption to your workplace. We also maintain planting we didn’t originally supply, and if an existing scheme is run down, we’ll bring it up to our standard first and then maintain it from there. You’ll recognise our staff on any visit as they wear the Deedman uniform, and rest assured that we only employ friendly, polite and helpful people!
During an office plant maintenance visit, our highly experienced staff will assess the condition of any indoor plants on site, including living and artificial plants, to determine what’s needed in terms of both ongoing maintenance and proactive, preventative plant care, such as biological pest control treatments. If, while carrying out their duties, the team notices that a plant has outgrown its position or died, we will automatically replace the plant with a specimen of equivalent value as part of our free plant replacement policy.
Every member of our maintenance team will have gone through our rigorous in-house training scheme, and we refresh their skills and knowledge on a regular basis to make sure they’re always performing at their best. Training is something we take very seriously here at Deedman, and this is recognised by the fact that we’ve achieved the Investors in People award three times so far.

Complete care on every visit
Our living plant maintenance covers everything your displays need. We water, trim and shape them, remove dead leaves, and mist and spray them for the correct humidity. We also feed them for healthy growth, clean and polish the leaves, and clean the containers, so your plants look healthy and cared for.
Living and replica plant care
Artificial plants need looking after too. Our replica plant maintenance service includes optional cleaning and polishing, and our artificial plants have flame retardants built in during manufacture and are tested to BS EN 13501-1 and DIN 4102-1, so your artificial displays stay looking their best and meet the safety requirements of a commercial building.
Our free plant replacement promise
Sometimes, through no fault of the maintenance, a plant can die. If this happens, we’ll automatically replace it with a specimen of equivalent value. We’ll also replace any plant that outgrows its position. Our replacement promise doesn’t cover customer damage.
Chemical-free pest control
We’ve used biological pest control for over 20 years, so we deal with pests without using harsh chemicals in your workplace. Every maintenance technician is trained in it, and combined with our 100% peat-free hydroculture planting, it’s a greener way to keep your plants healthy.

Step 2: Delivery and installation
We take care of delivery and installation from start to finish. Wherever possible, we prepare, wrap and bring your displays to site fully made up, so they can be placed quickly and with minimal fuss. If displays need to be built on site, we’ll arrange a time that suits you so there’s no disruption to your business.

Step 3: Regular plant maintenance
Our trained, uniformed maintenance team visits your site regularly to keep both living and replica displays healthy and looking their best, and a supervisor reports on every site to make sure our standards are met. If a plant dies naturally, we’ll automatically replace it with one of equivalent value, and if it outgrows its position, we’ll replace that too.

What happens during an office plant maintenance visit?
On each visit, our trained technicians give your living plants everything they need to stay healthy. That means watering them, trimming and pruning them to keep a good shape and remove dead leaves, misting and spraying them for the right humidity, and feeding them soil nutrients for healthy growth. They may also carry out biological pest control treatments as a preventative maintenance measure, in addition to improving the aesthetic appearance of the plants by cleaning the containers and leaves as required. For replica plants, visits cover optional cleaning and polishing. Our artificial plants have flame retardants built in during manufacture, so they don’t need treating on site.
How often are plant maintenance visits?
Our uniformed maintenance staff visit your site regularly to keep your plants in top condition, according to a schedule that works for your business. Most sites are visited every three to four weeks, although the exact timing depends on the plants and products on site, as well as the heating and lighting conditions. A small number of sites are visited every two weeks.
Some customers expect more frequent visits to be better for their plants, but we time each visit so your plants get enough water while the soil has a chance to dry out in between. This lets the roots take in air and helps prevent root rot.
Between scheduled visits, a supervisor also reports on each site to check that our standards are being met consistently.
Can maintenance visits be scheduled out of hours? Does someone need to be on site?
We understand how important it is that office plant care doesn’t get in the way of your working day, and our team will agree to visiting arrangements that suit your business. Maintenance normally takes place during the working week between 7am and 5pm, but we can arrange out-of-hours visits if that’s the only option. We only need access to the building, so your staff don’t need to be present, and we’re used to working alongside on-site security, including at government buildings and nuclear fuel sites.
Do I need to water the plants myself?
No. Our maintenance team takes care of everything your plants need, so there’s no watering, feeding or pruning for you or your staff to remember. If you notice anything about your plants between visits, just speak to our team on their next visit or call our head office on 01204 577000.
What happens if a plant dies?
Occasionally, a plant can die through no fault of the maintenance. If this happens, we’ll automatically replace it with a specimen of equivalent value for free. We’ll also replace any plant that’s outgrown its position. However, please be aware that our free replacement promise doesn’t cover plants damaged by customers.
Do you offer maintenance-only contracts?
Yes. We maintain plants supplied by other companies and can take over existing schemes. If a scheme is run down, we’ll bring it up to our standard first and then maintain it from there. Maintenance contracts usually run on a rolling yearly basis.
Do artificial plants need maintenance?
Yes, they do! Artificial plants don’t need watering or feeding, but they still benefit from regular care to keep them looking their best. Our artificial plant maintenance service includes optional cleaning and polishing, and because our artificial plants have flame retardants built in during manufacture, your displays continue to meet the safety needs of a commercial building.
Are your pest control methods safe for offices and food areas?
Our maintenance team uses biological pest control, which uses natural predators rather than chemicals to deal with pests without leaving any harmful residues. We’ve successfully relied on biological pest control for over 20 years, and every technician receives in-house training in these methods. However, please note that we don’t install plants in kitchen areas.
